MURALS & TROMPE L’OEIL
Trompe L’oeil a French term literally meaning “trick the eye” or “to deceive the eye”, Trompe L’oeil murals are paintings that create an illusion which achieves the sense of being three dimensional or photographic realism, that fools or tricks the eye. They are painted usually on a wall, (or ceiling, floor, etc.), that when viewed from the right position, should deceive the viewer into thinking it is real.
The main benefits of tromp L’oeil murals are that they can create an illusion of a space that could not normally exist, would not be affordable to create or would defy the laws of nature. The murals shown here were privately commissioned by clients.
FAUX & SPECIAL FINISHES
“Faux Finish” is a term that covers many different types of finishes. It comes from the old French word meaning “fake”. These days it means any finish applied to a surface to imitate a natural look- such as marble, stone, wood, metal, etc- or almost any other “Artistic finish”. Each finish has its own unique elements because it is done by hand. Color, texture and technique are created to suit not only your space, but your personality, decor and style.
Faux Finishes: Textured FInishes, Faux Marble, Wood Graining, Fresco, Venetian Plaster, Lusterstone, Tuscany Frescos, Marmorinos, Old World, False stone, Gold and silver leafing, etc.
